Racing Queensland - Track Light LED Upgrade
Tender submitted Q1, 2019 and completed Q1 2020 for detailed design, engineering, installation and commissioning of a new lighting system for the Ipswich Greyhound racing track. Scope included assessment of the existing setup, confirmation of design performance post-install and creation of a detailed site schematic for future use.
We exceeded client specified performance outcomes and delivered within the nominated budget and schedule.
SCOPE
This tender is for the design and installation of new track-side lighting for the Ipswich Greyhound circuit, repair of existing/legacy fittings using recycled parts and confirmation of performance.
Solution
Phillips ClearFlood BVP fittings, mounted in pairs on the main straight of the track on existing 8m poles, upgraded circuit protection/control gear and before/after technical reports and analysis.
Fitting the new LED light fittings in between passing storms - using a calibrate digital level to ensure aim was as specified by the designer
CHALLENGES
The existing poly-phase lights were found to be operating without a protective earth neutral system as required by the Australian Standards - our engineering team devised a solution consisting of a new neutral cable and pole specific earth stakes. This ensures that in the event of a fault circuit protection devices will now operate.
Environmental
AXIS removed and disposed of the legacy main straight light fittings is included, with spare parts to be used to repair remaining lights on the track.
Recycling of construction waste streams was 100%.
Light output uniformity was measured at 0.814 - exceeding the design forecast by +16% resulting in better lighting for users
